Whirlpool WHER25 Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System Filter Dissection: WHEERF

In this video I will dissect the sealed filters that are used in the WHER25 Reverse Osmosis system. This will focus on the WHEERF.

Both filters have two different change intervals:

WHEERF: Every 6 months
WHEERM: every 12 months
In this video, the WHEERF was changed at 6 months and the WHEERM was changed earlier than needed (6 months).
As you can see, there are a lot of plastic chards from me using a Saws all to open up the sealed containers. Please do not think those were loosely in the filter. The WHEERF seemed to be ready for a change and as expected, the WHEERM had 6 months life left upon inspection. All and all the filters seem solid and the replacement process was simple.
Side note: For anyone who ever has a leak with one of these systems (or any reverse osmosis under sink system) always remember that your drain hose should not have a kink or ā€œUā€ shape going into the drain pipe. It causes back pressure, especially when your waste hose starts to get dirty and cause the faucet to leak. This can create a false defect of the unit with you thinking its broken when in reality it is human error.
